I’m finding that every student has an untapped intuitive ability that could really enhance their client’s session if they know how to work with it.
Just as it is our birthright to claim our natural healing abilities, being intuitive is also a natural way of being. While Reiki does not require a practitioner to be intuitive, Reiki energy does tend to open up the intuitive channels, allowing us to receive information during a session.
Intuitive information comes through the chakras, so it makes sense that as we remove blocks to our growth through Reiki, we not only let our energy flow but our intuition as well.
You may see colours, symbols, or hear a word or phrase. You may be empathic and sense the physical or emotional qualities of your client in your own body and emotions. Perhaps during a Reiki session, all of a sudden, you smell a scent that soon fades away. You may even get a taste in your mouth while giving Reiki. So what does this all mean and how can it enhance your client’s session? Should you work on developing your intuition?
Intuitive information can help to guide you and increase your Reiki power and develop your Reiki abilities. For example, say you are channeling Reiki over your Client’s heart area and you feel a sense of grief. You may choose to draw the emotional symbol over this area to help release the grief.
Or, you may choose to mention to your client that you are picking up a feeling of grief when you work on their heart area. It’s amazing how just mentioning what you are intuitively picking up gives the client an opening to talk about their emotions.
Recently, this happened with a client who is a professional artist. I kept picking up feelings of low self-worth and shame in her. When I mentioned this, she started to talk about how she didn’t feel she could support herself as she relied on her husband’s income.
As I continued with the Reiki treatment, she spoke of the lack of pride she felt in herself whenever she told anyone her profession. Knowing that confidence and self-esteem is related to the solar plexus chakra, I spent longer working on it. While there, I intuitively heard the word “compassion”. We spoke about having compassion for herself, not judging herself and accepting where she was on her path.
She emailed me a couple of days later to let me know how she was doing. She reported that something had shifted in her and she was not reacting to other people like she had previously done because she could now understand their circumstances.
I use my intuition when I am giving Reiki to animals. Because animals can’t tell us how they are feeling or where they have discomfort, I tune into them through my intuition. Then I know how best to give the session so I can go right to where they need it most.
It also gives me the opportunity to let the owner know what’s going on with their pet on an emotional, spiritual, mental and physical level so they can create a better environment for them.
Your intuition during a Reiki session is giving you information to work with. Just like you need to learn how to work with Reiki energy and practice it to increase your Reiki power, you can learn to work with your intuition as well. It may provide the extra insight your client needs in order to heal and grow.
