One might assume that haunted cemeteries are pretty common. I’ve always told my students that once our loved ones cross, they don’t come back to visit their graves or hang around the cemetery they were buried in. But what about the haunted cemeteries that one of our readers captured on camera?
For a typical modern day cemetery, one usually will not have activity like this. As far as I am concerned, spirits of people who have crossed into the light do not hang out around their bodies. If they do visit and they are family, they tend to go to the cemetery because someone is visiting their burial site. They are connected with the living person and come to visit and support them, and not because of the grave site itself.
I remember the first time I visited my Mom’s grave after she passed. It was a few years later and I was by myself. I was kneeling if front of the grave stone when I saw the shadow of someone who had come up behind me and stood there just off to the side. I couldn’t see the person, nor did I hear anyone approach.
About 30 seconds later, the shadow disappeared. When I turned around to look, there was no one there! No one in the cemetery but me, and no trees or clouds that would have caused a shadow of a person to form. I believe that was my Mom’s spirit visiting me to remind me of something she gave me before she died.
Spirits that are from the light are not haunting you. They are visiting. When people talk about hauntings or a place that is haunted, they mean spirits who have not crossed over into the light and tend to be associated with a specific place like a house, or in our case, a cemetery.
The photos in this blog were kindly submitted by one of our readers for the spirit orb gallery blog. This is a place for you to share your photos and video clips where you have captured spirit orbs, ectoplasm, or other interesting paranormal phenomena.
This is the first time I’ve had someone submit photos from haunted cemeteries. There are two places where these photos were taken. The first haunted cemetery is Edwin Shaw Cemetery in Lakemore, Ohio. The second place is nearby in a different cemetery – Milheim Cemetery in Springfield Township, Ohio.
Some haunted cemeteries have spirit activity associated with the land itself where there is more emotional imprint which may draw energies and spirits. It’s also possible that these particular cemeteries are located on natural energetic portals or connecting ley lines (natural energy lines of the earth) which tend to increase the amount of spiritual activity.
If there was a hospital or other type of building which is associated with the cemetery, as I see from a google search that Edwin Shaw had close by, then that too may make a difference to the amount of spiritual activity. This is because of the strong emotions that people have while in a particular place. Emotions are energetic and they can imprint or change the frequency of a place which then becomes an energetic beacon or place to anchor for spirits that are attached to the place somehow or even those spirits who are just attracted to that particular vibration.
Here is what our photo contributor had to say:
“The little church is right by the cemetery. It is a very old church. Probably about as old as the house next door and the house has a mark for 1864 or 1865… Edwin Shaw is not even a mile away from this old cemetery. I did not feel creepy at all at the cemetery but Edwin Shaw was a whole other ballgame. Edwin Shaw housed TB patients in 1910s to the 1960s. After that they used it as a rehab for illness and surgeries. There is also a grave yard there with people that died of TB. I believe close to 300 burials.”
According to the photographer, there was no fog, no mist that could be seen with the eyes that night. I decided to ask our photographer if there was anything out of the ordinary about the windows as it clearly looks like there is fire. I wondered if it was an odd reflection or an actual photo of fire.
I wrote to her: “I see you have a few orbs in the one photo, ectoplasmic haze in another, but I wanted to ask you about the reflection in the windows of the one building that looks similar to fire. What did you see with your physical eyes when you were there? Was there a shiny substance in these windows? I’m just trying to figure that one out.”
And her reply: “As far as your question about the church. Nothing stood out. But, there was not anything on the door or windows. At the steeple area of the church, there are some stained glass windows. Just up top. The windows all the way around the church are normal long windows. There are not even any coverings on them.”
Thanks to the photographer for giving permission to share these haunted cemeteries photos of orbs and other manifestations of energy and spirit.
